The Axum Obelisk, Ethiopia

There are seven intricately carved obelisks at Axum Ethiopia, bizarrely, the carvings seen to represent modern high rise buildings, with a door at the base and a series of windows above, thought to have been carved over 2,000 years ago, each one from a solid piece of rock, four are standing and three have fallen over time. The largest – “The Great Obelisk” has fallen – but when intact would have weighed approximately 500 tonnes.
